Waco Girls' Weekend

Last winter, Mom, Melanie, Mary Katherine, and I started a tradition of getting together for a little girls' weekend.  Our first installment was in Dallas, which was basically a staycation for me, but this year we all met in Waco in February for a Magnolia-filled weekend.  Mary Katherine has a friend from Pine Cove who is a student at Baylor, and she gave us some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Friday afternoon when we all made it to Waco, we headed to this darling village just outside of town called Homestead Heritage and checked out the cutest cheese shop before an early supper at Cafe Homestead.  We started with a cheese tray featuring all homemade cheeses and homemade sorghum syrup - it was so delicious!

After supper we headed to Target and had so much fun walking up and down almost every aisle, picking up birthday gifts for our Pop for his 80th birthday bash (post on that to come!).  There was a whole lot of squealing, and we ended up with a buggy full of birthday gifts and adorable Easter decorations.  I immediately put out all my Easter finds as soon as I got back to Dallas because Easter is my absolute favorite holiday, and I am all about having Easter decorations up for at least a month.

I am a topiary fanatic, so the egg topiary is probably my favorite thing ever.  And I promptly popped some spring flowers in that white vase on my table = so many heart eye emojis.

Getting back to Waco -- after our Target extravaganza, we decided to call it a night and go to sleep early before our big day on Saturday.  To kick off Saturday, we had a great breakfast at Lula Jane's - baked oatmeal for Mary Katherine, breakfast pie for the rest of us, and coffee/tea for everyone.

Our next stop and the real motivation for our Waco trip was, of course, Magnolia Market!  It was absolutely adorable, and we made sure to squeal over every single item there.  Melanie and I picked up a few things for our houses, and we all enjoyed walking around the cute garden, seeing the food trucks, and plenty of photo-ops.

The rest of our Saturday included popping into some other fun shops and boutiques, mostly at a fun, warehouse-type area in Waco called Spice Village.  We grabbed lunch at one of our favorites, Newk's, and then relaxed/napped a little bit that afternoon.  Saturday night, we went to a local Italian joint for supper and then went for a little walk after stuffing ourselves with pasta.  Sunday morning we all hit the road early to head home after a wonderful, fun-filled girls' weekend.  We're already scheming about where we should go next year!
