This weekend we went to east Texas for an adventure with two other couples – Matt and Mallory and Jon and Megan (you may remember that Jon and Megan just recently got married). Matt and Mallory invited us to his family’s ranch for a couple of days of games, food, rest and no cell phone service. The peace and quiet was so amazing, and I kind of enjoyed that my phone had no service, which meant that even when I was tempted to browse Instagram, I couldn’t use it at all.
Saturday after hunting trip number one, we loaded up and went on a drive to explore the property. We saw some Aggie horses, a ton of cows, two donkeys, and we even jumped around on some hay bales in a hay barn.
We hit a little snag with some mud, and the boys did their best to get us out, but we ended up having to be pulled out by a giant green tractor! Matt and Mallory’s cute puppy, Riggins, kept us entertained while Matt went to get the tractor.
Other than our outdoor adventure, the boys did
some a lot of duck hunting, and the girls traded off fixing our meals and did a lot of reading and relaxing. In the evenings, we played Catchphrase, Mexican Train dominoes, and Trivial Pursuit. The girls dominated in Catchphrase (won every single round!), but I did not fair so well in the other games when we weren’t playing boys against girls… Megan killed us all in dominoes and her husband Jon was the definite Trivial Pursuit champion. The weekend was a great break from the hustle and bustle of our day to day in Dallas – thank you M&M for hosting us!
